In an effort to improve environmental sustainability in surgical oncology, SSO has established a task force whose mission is to inspire and equip surgical oncologists to advance environmental sustainability in their work and daily lives. Below you will find a list of initiatives and resources provided by the Task Force for the SSO 2025 Annual Meeting.
Stick with Us
“Stick” with us while we talk about health care sustainability! Look for badge stickers at registration indicating your interest or activity in sustainability.
Continuing the Conversation
Join the Surgical Oncologists for Sustainability Task Force to “Continue the Conversation: What is SSO Doing About Sustainability” on Thursday, March 27 at 10:00 AM EST in the Pan-Tumor HUB Zone.
Networking Lunch
There will be a table dedicated to health care sustainability at the Networking Lunch on Thursday, March 27 at 12:00 PM EST in the HUB. Grab your lunch and join this networking session fostering discussions to enhance networking opportunities and participation within SSO.

Reducing Plastic Waste
Join us in reducing single-use plastic waste. To help reduce our environmental footprint by reducing the number of plastic water bottles used, please bring a reusable water bottle from home. Alternatively, there will be a limited number of reusable water bottles available at SSO 2025. They will be available at the SSO Membership Booth in the HUB at the Tampa Convention Center for a minimum donation of $25 to cover the cost of the bottle. All donations above $25 will be used for future sustainability projects.
Sustainable Restaurants
When planning group dinners during the Annual Meeting, consider choosing sustainable restaurants near the Convention Center.
