Message From the Surgical Oncology Insight Editor-in-Chief
Surgical Oncology Insight has entered its third year as we embark on the new challenges and opportunities that 2026 will bring us. We continue to publish articles that represent a diverse range of topics and disease sites, and our invited series of articles and podcasts continue to produce high-quality content that is extraordinarily well-received and relevant to our clinical practice. For a young journal, our publisher reports SOI has very high usage rates, including the number of downloaded articles exceeding 160,000 last year!
Surgical Oncology Insight is now also included in Scopus, a leading, global academic indexing platform that is one of the primary sites that scholars go to find relevant articles and that research stakeholders look to as an indicator of research quality. We were also accepted to the Web of Science and SOI will receive its first Impact Factor this year.
The membership of the SSO and all its Global Partners are the foundation of this journal, and I am so grateful for everyone’s
contributions that continue to make Surgical Oncology Insight a tremendous success!

Surgical Oncology Insight
publishes original, peer-reviewed articles as well as reviews and commentaries of interest to a global audience of surgeons, fellows in-training, and researchers in all aspects of surgical oncology, as well as physicians and surgeons in related fields. Manuscript submissions of clinical and translational research reports, health services studies, reports on surgical techniques, global surgical oncology issues, videos, reviews, and commentary involving new information to advance the understanding and practice of surgical oncology on a broad and inclusive basis are welcome. The journal encourages submission of articles that have a clinical focus and that facilitate comparative views of surgical techniques and treatment modalities.
Surgical Oncology Insight promotes innovative findings in surgical cancer care by communicating advances in research and education.
SurgOnc Today: SOI Article Series® is a monthly podcast presented by Surgical Oncology Insight (SOI) and the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO).
Each 15–20 minute episode features a rotating host and an expert faculty guest who lead an in-depth discussion of a selected article shaping the field of surgical oncology.
