New Award Opportunity for SSO 2022 Attendee
SSO is pleased to announce a new award opportunity, the Dale Han, MD, Memorial Scholarship Award. The award is made possible by the Sentinel Node Oncology Foundation (SNOF) through the Sentinel Lymph Node Working Group (SLNWG) and was established to honor the memory of Dr. Dale Han, a surgical oncologist with specialty focus in melanoma and sarcoma, who passed away suddenly earlier this Fall. Dr. Han placed paramount importance on scholarship, teaching and mentorship.
The award is available to Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellows or surgical residents with a focus in surgical oncology and who have an accepted abstract on a topic in cutaneous oncology for the SSO 2022 – International Conference on Surgical Cancer Care. The award provides a $3,000 stipend to cover travel costs and attendance at SSO 2022 and the annual Sentinel Lymph Node Working Group meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.
The primary goal of the SNOF is to organize cancer research primarily through its SLNWG, which consists of more than 20 investigators from over 15 major cancer centers throughout the world. The objective of the SLNWG is to collect longitudinal data from melanoma and other cancer patients undergoing selective sentinel lymph node dissection or other cancer treatments to generate peer-reviewed publications and therapeutic protocols. The SLNWG has published over 25 peer-reviewed manuscripts in PubMed to date.
For 2022, eligible applicants will receive an invitation to apply for the award from the SLNWG. Click here for additional information.
