Application for Engagement

SSO’s committee appointment process, the Application for Engagement, allows members to apply for open seats on committees appointed for the upcoming year.

Members who are eligible to serve on an SSO committee will receive an email with the application link.

In order to participate on an SSO Committee, you must:

• Be a current SSO member paid through the 2027 renewal year. Please contact membership@surgonc.org or visit this link to if you have not renewed for the upcoming year. Please note that after you renew the system will take 24 hours to allow access to the Application for Engagement.
• Commit to allocating time to effectively participate on a committee.
• Commit to attending the SSO Joint Committee Conference held at the SSO Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., on March 17, 2027.

Please note that Medical Student/Resident members are only eligible to apply for the Resident / Medical Student Committee.

Notifications will be sent in early 2027. Appointments officially begin on April 1, 2027.

In an effort to be as inclusive as possible, members are discouraged from serving on more than one volunteer group at a time. New applicants will be reviewed and placed in a volunteer group ahead of current committee members who apply for a second position.
