Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship
For Current and Prospective Programs

For more information for current and prospective Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Programs, please use the links below. The Breast Surgical Oncology (BSO) Training Committee reviews and approves breast surgical oncology fellowship training programs annually and accepts new PID applications up to January 15 each year. Strict requirements must be met to be an approved training program. If you are planning to submit a new PID application, please email fellowship@surgonc.org before downloading and completing the application.

The fee for processing applications for programs seeking initial approval will be a non-refundable $2,000 fee and an invoice will be generated and sent once the PID is received. The PID will not be reviewed until the application fee has been paid. Please be aware that this application fee is not the site visit and annual program fee. That is a secondary fee that is assessed at the time of program approval and before the site visit can be scheduled.

Strict requirements must be met to be an approved training program. These are the current Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Training Program Documents effective through July 31, 2026.

Below are the UPDATED Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program Requirements. Starting August 1, 2026, for AY2026-2027 these will replace all previous versions.

Your program must be prepared to address how they will meet these requirements at the time of application. Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Programs  may elect to hold either virtual or in person interviews. There should be one declared approach at each institution, either virtual or in-person, and no hybrid combination of both approaches. Programs may make exceptions to accommodate candidates with extenuating circumstances. However, these exceptions should not result in a hybrid interview format, with virtual and in-person interviews occurring on the same day.

The SSO and ASBrS supports each program’s autonomy to select the interview format that best meets the needs of both the program and its fellowship candidates.
