Please pay close attention to the format of each interview and the date(s) available for each program.

Strict requirements must be met to be an approved training program. All prospective programs should review the Governing Documents, including the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program Requirements, the Breast Surgical Oncology Curriculum and Minimum Training Requirements, and the Breast Surgical Oncology Policies and Procedures (please note the Program Director and Associate Program Director Policy). Your program must be prepared to address how they will meet these requirements at the time of application. For more information on how to apply to become an approved training program and approval timelines, please review the information below.

As of December 16, 2019, the fee for processing applications for programs seeking initial approval will be a non-refundable $2,000 fee and an invoice will be generated and sent once the PID is received. The PID will not be reviewed until the application fee has been paid.

Please be aware that this fee is not the site visit and annual program fee. This is a secondary fee that will be assessed at the time of program approval and site visit.

The PID application is available here

Interviews will take place February 27 to June 27, 2025

For the 2025 Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program interview period, programs may elect to hold either virtual or in person interviews. There should be one declared approach at each institution, either virtual or in-person, and no hybrid combination of both approaches. However, each program can make exceptions to accommodate individuals with extenuating circumstances. Exceptions should not result in a hybrid approach where virtual interviews are taking place on the same day as in-person interviews.

The SSO and ASBrS support the autonomy of each program to choose the format that best meets their needs and the needs of their fellowship candidates.
