In consideration of the many challenges presented by COVID-19 along with SSO’s objective of ensuring the health and safety of SSO 2020 attendees, the SSO Executive Council has made the difficult decision to forgo the live meeting planned for August and instead convert SSO 2020 to a virtual format.
Please plan to join your colleagues for a live, virtual event in August. The SSO 2020 Scientific Program Committee (SPC) is planning a virtual meeting with an abbreviated program schedule that will include general sessions, featured lecturers and various disease-site sessions. Select sessions will be recorded and available on demand. The SPC is hard at work reshaping the program and additional details are forthcoming.
SSO members (in good standing) who are currently registered for SSO 2020 may participate and access all virtual meeting content for free and non-SSO members may participate for a nominal fee of $75. All registered attendees will have the option of receiving a refund or donating all or a portion of their previous registration payment to the SSO Research and Education Fund. Details regarding the refund/donation process will be sent in approximately two weeks.
If your SSO 2020 housing reservation was made through the SSO 2020 website, no further action is needed as your room reservation will be canceled.
We recognize the disappointment of not meeting in Boston, but we optimistically look forward to SSO 2021, March 17 – 21, 2021, in Chicago. It is hard to know the challenges we will face next year, but we ask that you save the date and look forward to the future.
